Looking good so far?
Any idea how much rock you used?
Everything is doing great actually! I honestly did not weigh the rock. We just have 2 large brutes full of rock that we had bleach cured from old tanks. It was pressure washed and sun dried for a week then stored for this build. Once we had drew out dimensions on the cardboard, we just started building to what we liked. There is definitely a lot less in weight then gallons if that’s what your trying to go by. We have added 5 more decent pieces in the sump to cycle for 4 months before we bring them up to the display for more shelf’s and surface area. I have come to realize that I need more shelf’s and flat surfaces for acros.

PH has been a little lower then I would like and with the kids being off from school for the holidays the poor tank has been suffering further. Let’s see how this does.

It’s been a little bit since the last update. A few things have changed so I figured it was time to add.
- First off the CO2 canister is working awesome! My PH is right around 8.3-8.4 during the day. Exactly what I have been wanting. The media holds out for a good amount of time as well. I have almost went a month on one can. It depends on if the kids are home from school or not... little mouth breathers.
- Next, I have more flat rocks that have been cycling in the sump for several months. It’s about time to add them to the DT for more stick space.
- Third, our fourth XR30 has come in and I will be mounting that tomorrow. So little ole’ XR15 can take a break and wait to be used for something.
- Fourth, the calcium reactor is dialed in and pulling its weight beautifully. However, I’m starting to consume Cal pretty fast and I am hand dosing trace elements more then I used to. I have a few DOS’s laying around so why not put them into use. With that came the over-growing of the current cabinet.

This just will not do! It’s messy, cluttered and my OCD is about to put me in the hospital..... SO I am having a new cabinet built. This setup functions and will have to do for a few more weeks. I will be building extension cables for all my Ecotech Vortex pumps so they can be located together.
I will add more pictures as I get things added and installed.

Here is a few updated coral pictures of a few pieces.

How you like the Regal Skimmer? How is it noise wise? Any audible buzzing/vibration etc?
I think it was money well spent. As far as buzzing/vibrating noise there is none. Can you tell when the skimmer is on and your u set the cabinet, yes. But that’s just because of the water swooshing around in the chamber. With the doors closed you can not hear a thing.

Thanks! Now I'm considering it. Just want something that is quiet.

Good morning all!
Today starts my “mandatory” 14 days off sitting at home. No work, just sit at home and get paid.... so... I think I will do some much needed upgrades. I finally have the new cabinet coming, should be here around the end of the week. But until then, there are some under the tank tasks that need to be complete to get ready.

Coffee and cables! I’m not sure I’ve actually left work. Time to clean these cables up, install several of these tubing brackets that I purchased and finish making my Ecotech extension cables.

New cabinet location. It will have sliding glass doors to show off all the equipment. The current cabinet makes me cringe when I look inside. People always want to see inside when they come over but it’s like showing off your house but skipping your kids room because it’s trashed lol.
Much more to come as the day progresses.

Unfortunately I have reached a stopping point on wire management until the cabinet arrives. Next up, building extension cables.

love your set up and equipment choices. I recently upgraded to a 6026 peninsula and I have my eye on adding a calcium reactor soon. First thoughts were either a Geo 612 or 618. Your 618 is swaying me in that direction. I'm also really looking at the dastaco and deltec. This will be my first shot at a calcium reactor and just really hoping for the most reliable and reasonably simple set up to get me through the learning stages. And I definitely don't want to have to upgrade so trying to pick wisely.

Thank you! It has been a long work in progress and I still have a few more things to add.
As you probably read this is also my first Calcium Reactor. Many good friends of mine have GEO and always have positive feed back with them. So that is what I went with. As far as simplicity goes, I feel the 618 is very simple.
It has been a learning curve for sure when it comes to dialing it in. Lots of reading on here and input from fellow reefers. I started very slow ramping it up because I did not want to make drastic changes right off the bat to water chemistry. But everything is working great now and the growth is awesome. As far as the other brands of reactor, I can not speak intelligently on. I wish I could help you with that. But if you would like any help or tips with your setup please feel free to ask.

This virus has kept me cooped up enough to knock out long awaited cabinet to replace the temp one I had set up. Took me all week to knock this out but it is finally almost done.

This is the last cabinet I will build! After this it is on to the fish room when we build our house.
