Ok one thing I have always thought was cool where eels. I remember about 4 years ago when I only had freshwater but the store I went to also had saltwater and they had an eel that was the stores mascot I always wanted it. What size tank would I need to have a snowflake eel? He would be the only thing in the tank because I know they can be aggressive. Also with weekly water changes and being the only fish how much filtration am I going to need?

Minimum 40g, he gets like 30" but dosen't swim very often(more of a rock dweller)and can live with any fish he can't swallow. he may bite them so pick hardy fish. filtration, i always say canister(he can go down an overflow, and im talking from experience) and protein skimmer w/ fish only.

that helps a lot. I have a 46 gallon with a puffer, two clowns, and a hawk fish. Will he go after the puffer who is always near the rocks? Also the clown fish tend to stay up toward the surface will he go after them? The more I feed him will the less likely to go after the fish?

Eels hunt at night when clowns hover close to the rock or even lay in a crevice. The hawk will be sitting on the rock. I would say he would eat them unless they were big and he was small. Puffers can inflate and most are poisonous so i think he is safe.

Might have to wait till the other fish pass away. Which I do not want to happen but I just will not replace them. My clowns are wierd they sleep right at the surface of the water. I mean you could touch them with out getting your finger wet...lol

I disagree, I think if its a small eel it will be fine, most eels are scavengers that will avoid hunting live prey, and if well fed wont get very preditory at all, especially snowflakes, I have had them so doscile I could pet them and feed by hand.

I agree with wicked demon, snowflakes are pretty mild tempered. The only time mine would ever act aggressive is at feeding time, so I was too afraid to hand feed. I think your fish should be fine, but any shrimp will be lunch. Hermit crabs are okay.

What about a dwarf golden moray? they're smaller, right? so the other fish would be safer. only downside i can think of is more $$.
