Alright so I’ve had my Amazeballs Goni for a few months so she’s well acclimated. All of a sudden closed up super tight. There’s a closed up coral and then there’s a CLOSSSSSSED UP CORAL. I know yall know the difference. Here’s my stuff. Nuvo20 AIO been up and running for 8 months. Dosing 600 mL kalk solution half saturated daily in ATO. 1/8 gallon water change daily no new salt buckets and clean RODI. Fresh carbon bi-weekly. Filter sock and pad twice a week. 2 AI Primes at like 30% no change in power or schedule. Every other coral in my tank is thriving except my amazeballs. Haven’t change lighting or placement. I’m stumped. Aside from, “Sometimes they decide to wither and die” does anyone have any ideas? It’s been closed up like this for about four days. Hasn’t changed from this state just woke up one day and she was shut up tight. My other Gonis are going nuts. I’m stumped. Already tried a 50% water change. No help.

.025 salinity
9.6 DKH
Mag 1250 and Calc 400 right down the middle
Phos .02
nitrate .15
Temp steady pH steady no fluctuations

I’m interested in this as my Amazeballs has shrivelled up (to the point I question if to chuck it through a bandsaw to see if it’s a burying worm). Also, completely different but how did yours remain orange? Mine went green, almost solid yellow. No matter how little or how much light I can’t see to get it back to the original colours of a UC Amazeballs (it is a true UC as the original colony was an import from America about 5 years ago).

I have never seen nor heard of amazeballs going green

If other Goni are open and fine (which they are and look great) and parameters are steady and match prior months then it is not water issue.

If you haven’t changed placement and it was happy there for months, it’s not a placement issue

I would suggest a dip but it looks pretty clean to me

Sometimes Goni just close up for days or weeks. I have 25+ of them. My amazeballs was open daily for 8 months and growing nice then closed up fully retracted. For 3 weeks. It’s just starting to open as of a few days ago. They are a touchy coral and the amazeballs is one of the most challenging and sensitive

I haven’t had a huge color change since it acclimated. I lost the purple tips which was lame but the orange heads and green stalks are still super vibrant. I hit it directly with reef roids and aminos once a week. Aminos help color a lot.

TCK said in their last auction that all of their Amazeballs were randomly upset despite existing in different systems. Sounds kinda crazy!

Gonis are def not my thing, but there has been evidence presented that low manganese has caused shiveling and wasting in gonis. Dont know how relevant that is to you though if you are getting regular icp tests done and are on the 'shine.

That was my thought initially was low Manganese in my system but it’s on a doser and doses every second day. I may just go back to manual dosing as the doser seems to have stopped.

Sadly, this is the case for Amazeballs most of the time.

They are notorious for being okay for a while and then BOOM. Dying.

What you can do which help with my gonis, is put them in a dip of Coral Infection Elimination or an antibacterial dip, with some reefroids and amino acid in the bath as well

Yea let them soak for 15-20 minutes.

It’s to get them to open up to eat the concentrated dose of amino and reefroids without any disturbances

Where you able to save the Goni?
Sorry for the late reply. So it has not fully extended since this post was made. It’s honestly not come out at all really. In the last week however it has been starting to poke out a bit intermittently. I’ll attach some photos. I have not had any flesh die off or bleaching which I suppose is good. It’s just been closed all this time. I have stuck to my normal regiment in hopes that keeping things stable will be my best chance to save it. I’m hopeful it’s going to make it through whatever this is. I did not move it, dip it, or change any parameters. Here’s how it looks now.
