Overall, I am still happy with my Dolphin Ampmaster pump and glad the company is responsive. 7 years is a pretty good run for the original pump and it was still working. My only suggestions
  • Be sure get the best seal they make.
  • Get a tray made for under any external pump. It shows water really really quick and should trip that sensor early on.
  • Use a water sensor to shut off the pump if a leak occurs.

Awesome - Thanks for giving the Random Flow Generator[emoji769] Nozzle a place in the flow solution for your build.

We'll be interested in your impression of the RFG nozzle vs the standard accelerators you have installed now. We did a video of this a while back that actually show the difference between the two.

So the nozzles are on 8 in total. I am impressed and like them so far. I am interested in how they will behave with corals added to the tank. Also I did loose a little output from my pump. I want to say about 60 gallons per hour. I used the two half inch nozzles and two 3/4 on the left side as it has less flow due to the plumbing. On the right side I used all 4 of the 3/4 nozzles. They do behave differently on less flow but I don't think this a bad thing. Seems like a little more gentle currents are created. Pretty cool product.

Awesome - would love to see a video. Also be sure to post in our Random Flow Generator Show Off thread - link in the signature below.

That is correct - the lower flow you push through the RFG nozzles, the less chaotic the flow diction changes are. As a result the flow is more gentle, but it moves a wide body of water. The more flow you feed them the more pronounced the effect.

Just for kicks, you can try removing two of the RFGs on one side, and plugging the hoses temporarily, just to see what the reaming RFGs will do with more flow.

Great build and love the plumbing. I bought (2) 3/4 RFG's for my 135 and I love the flow. My return flow is not as strong as others but when my microbubbler kicks on, I can see a gentle swirl of bubbles coming out of my returns to tell me that my nozzles are doing their thing. I love the fact that there are no motors or moving parts to these returns. I have buddy that is in the process of building a 300 gallon tank and I recommended these returns for his tank.

Update 06-18-18. Just finished building two custom Avast Marine small spyglass reactors. I would like to thank Avast Marine for modifying the height. Me and the one of the owners Dan had a long and interesting chat on how to make it work for my system. At one point I brought up the option of splicing into my plumbing and making a manifold to allow them to run in the refugium section. Dan quickly pointed out that would ruin my clean plumbing. That is when we came up with the solution. I have a perfect spot thanks to Dan. Once everything drys I will post pictures. Pretty excited about these two reactors.

06-21-18 Update - I just put in two bottle of ARC REEF CORALLINE ALGAE IN A BOTTLE - One bottle of the Pink and one bottle of the Purple. I talked with the company today as the bottles states one bottle per 50 gallons. I have ordered a few more bottles and I am going to do a little experiment. Since all the rock has been given a muratic acid bath. No coraline algae is in this tank. I am interested in seeing how the product does. Interestingly they said they did not sell to the public until just recently. Tom at Arc-Reef seemed nice and knowledgeable.

7-10-18 - Big update- just picked up a Australian dussumieri tang sourced from Quality Marine.. Looking forward to him getting his adult coloring. He is already eating and has decided the parrotfish is his buddy following him around like a puppy.
