The Mrs and I decided to start a new SPS tank during this pandemic! We went with a waterbox this time around, I'm sure we’ll be upgrading in the near future. The money we saved on the tank vs some others we have put into the components. today was the first day of setup, hung the T5‘s, did the initial plumbing, installed the RO/DI, and worked on our control cabinet modification. We have some Marco rocks on the way as well as an apex controller. We will be working on the aquascape and mounting of the electronics over the weekend! We‘re excited to be a part of this community! Any thoughts or suggestions on T5 bulb combos?

Just about finished with our cabinet mod. Went with the fire 10 hd tablet for the apex display. Lots of goodies showing up tomorrow! We plan on using a flush mount magnet on the front for a clean look.

We took full advantage of the rainy day to work on our tank setup. We finished the installation of the magnet mount for the Fire 10 tablet. We also mounted the apex, the controllers for the MP40, L2 and the Tunze osmolator. We also tossed the Marco rocks into some saltwater to cure for a bit. I have read some good and bad things about putting them straight into the tank. I figured to err on the side caution since we are in no hurry. I will start testing for PO4 in a few days and see how it goes over a couple of weeks. We are also doing our 50 hour burn in as recommended by ATI now while the tank is empty, seems like a better idea than while the tank was brand new so that we don’t start out with an algae bloom.

Got our scape completed and in the tank. We certainly weren’t the cleanest with the cement lol. We are happy with it so far and will have room for lots of corals down the road. Also added a second mp40, added a 180 degree charger for the tablet, mounted all of the power supplies to the bottom of the shelf we built to keep them out of the way. Also added some dr Tims ammonia to start our cycle. We have ordered a dos pump and a bunch of other goodies to come in tomorrow. Things are coming together nicely. We are next going to build a diy stand for the skimmer to raise it a live and also plumb the ro line to the ato resevoir and install a float switch tomorrow.
