Yep the black spots are most likely from him hosting something he shouldn't be (mines hosting zoas) I figure if it hurts he'll learn to avoid them and the coral doesn't seem to mind either so Im not to worried. Sounds like yours is either hosting the gsp or Kenya tree, you should try and catch him in the act :)

These are the filters I got if you're interested

Cool. Do you have any before and after pics using the gels?

Hmm... Not really. Look on my tank journal for pictures both with and without filters, beware not all pictures are phone shots but I believe all phone shots are labeled as such.

Got 2 Yellowtail Damsels, some more hermits and snails and some Bride of Chuckies. The hermits are huge, but they are taking out some algae which is awesome. Got 5 big scarlets and then 5 smaller commons. 3 of the small ones went in my refugium.

2 heads. Hopefully it grows!

Made a new overflow with bigger pvc. This one is the modified version on YouTube. Drain tube is now 3/4 and a larger 1 1/2 on the outside. So now just one visible pipe. Drains much faster so I can produce more return pressure.

Looks tight, but it's just wedged in the corner, the back has more space.

Nice zoas! Just a head's up, those are a finicky one. Keep an eye on them and if they don't open for a couple of days definitely try moving them to lower light and flow.

Thanks! They seem pretty happy right now. The bigger one is about as round ad a dime or so. Hopefully they will be happy. They don't seem to be cheap zoas. I thought it was a little pricey, but after I googled, I think I got a good deal.

I'm actually starting to think everything has to much light. My zoa stalks are getting shorter. I read that means they aren't stretching for light. My xenias haven't opened in about a week now. My Kenya tree and Duncan's are huge however.

Been awhile since I updated. So the other morning my sump was dripping. Drained it and found where the leak was. Figured it was a good time to redo the sump anyway. The dividers I used were to thin and the caulk eventually came off and it was barely functional. So I recaulked it all and then braced it with some pvc pipe. Also realized I've never really taken any pics of it.

Been battling some GHA and byropsis or however you spell it. Raised the Mag up and that has been helping. Also got 5 good sized turbo snails that are kicking some algae butt. You'll see the nasty in the pics.

Sump/Refugium v1.1-

Here are some coral updates. Lots of growth since I last posted. Few new ones also.

I'll start with new corals.

Got some helms deep zoas, 5 heads, the smaller ones in front really had no red color yet when I bought them.

Red with pink tip torch coral-

Devils hand, all bleached out, but I can see polyps so I'm hoping it will pull through-

First SPS, was also white in some spots, lots of pink though. Algae also loves to get stuck on it, ugh-

I think that's all for the new stuff. Here are some pics of the others.

Bride of Chuckies got 3 new heads since my last post.

Ricordia, a little piece split off it and now it's going crazy.

Duncan's are bigger than ever, about 5 new small heads growing underneath the big ones.
f96791f0f49d5be9041b7f0e1a195a23.jpg

Fruit loops, got lots of new heads and it's starting to creep onto the rock finally.

Kenya tree really isn't doing much.
9e65c1ac3a353c54cb7939bc9101bc38.jpg

Lost a few glove polyps, they seem to be shrinking daily. However, I got a few new heads on those red zoas, I thought they were purple people eaters, but I think not. They are more red so I dunno what they are. Green buttons are doing good though. Even the little guy that broke away.

Radioactive Dragon eyes are doing really good. Few other misc zoas behind them, with my helms deep. Will be the zoa corner.

Quick pic update. Just about to give it a good cleaning, so excuse the mess. Tank has exploded over the last few months. I've seen fuller tanks, but I think it's time for a 40 gallon. Mostly because I want more fish. Not sure if my table will hold the weight or not. I'm thinking yes, but I built it from 1x3's. Never with the intention of having a fish tank on it though.

My anemone decided he wanted to move around, so I had to move some stuff. Pretty sure he stung my dragon eyes, they have been looking a little sad. Hopefully they will pull through. The anemone has just gotten to big for my tank.

Anyway on to some pics.

Bride of Chuckies have just taken off, feels like I see a new one every other day now.
8a10beb8adae9226f92bace4483b5a2f.jpg

I believe these are limeades after looking at some palys online. They are also growing like crazy.
b0765817871df6430ec2f438d0b96685.jpg

Torch is getting nice and full.
2014b5ae022aaca53257135adf33ea7f.jpg

Duncan's, got a few new heads growing at the bottom.
6982f596a4f6f632f867b78f3b501a66.jpg

All this stuff. Devils hand looks way better, it's gotten it's color back finally, glad I could save it. Kenya tree is just getting taller and taller. Birds nest, eh, not much that I can notice, some white tips which I'm assuming is new growth. Also can't really tell on the flower pot. He is huge some days, some days he's not. Moved my helms deep over here cause of my anemone. 4 heads here and 3 that crept off the plug over by the anemone. Ricordia I don't understand. It just recently split off the rock it was originally attached to, so he's now on my rock. The part that split off is still in there also, just waiting to see what it does.
cb77680b71e979ac7889c063a8db0dba.jpg

And then these babies are just going nuts. If you look at my last post you will notice a big change.
cdc2eff3a0c7455598b8f3b84c2b81e0.jpg

Combo rock is also looking pretty good.
af2d9316b087acbfe8e7240fa3e2a9c5.jpg

This trouble maker (anemone) here causes the most issues with placement. He basically owns that whole corner. I have a few more of my helms deep zoas or paly, which ever. They are closed up though cause he touches them. They are ones that grew off the plug posted above.

Gonna have to get another light. Everything seems OK though. Still only have my blues around 50% and whites around 25%.

Admins I'm not sure if 55 gallon is still nano or not. Not sure if the thread needs moved or not.

I feel like my new tank is starting to mature. I'm seeing bacteria growing on my new rock finally, got some sponges growing in my sump and some weird little white coil looking worm things. Some kind of feather duster? . Got a few new fish and corals along the way also. I'm learning that damsels are not very nice. I picked up 3 small blue damsels and they sure didn't get along with my yellow tail damsels. Guys are jerks. Got a six line wrasse and a yellow tang. Yes I'm sure the tank is too small for the tang, when he gets to big I will trade him to a good home. He seems happy now eating stuff off the rocks.

Here are a few pics. Had to turn up the lights, still need to get another box.

Some Xenia that I thought was dead. Hasn't came out in months. Like 6-7 months. Crazy stuff.

Can't wait for stuff to start filling in. Growth slowed down a lot after the transfer. Lights have been low for a couple months though. Figured they could use a rest while everything is calming down. Positive I stressed everything out.

Nice transfer! Tank is looking good. Love the pineapple hiding in the sand lol
Thanks! I got a pirate on the other side. Spongebob gets buried in the sand a lot. I got him in a better spot now. Felt the need to move stuff around again. Never ends.

Does anyone else move their rock work around all the time? I'm liking it this way now.

Couple good shots I got with my phone. Makes me want to get a real camera someday. I don't feel like I show my fish off enough. Got these guys sitting still though.

Just had to get some more stuff. I had a bitter sweet moment when my puffer disappeared. No idea what happened to him. No trace of him anywhere. Assuming he died and got eaten by my CUC. He bothered my Acan corals. So with him gone means I can now get more [emoji1] .

So i picked up a few new things.

First I've really been wanting a rose bubble tip since the last one I had early on died. So I saw this guy and had to save him. He's bleached out so hoping he will pull through. Seems like he's adjusting well. Couldnt pass him up at this size for $40. Nomo the tomato clown is cheating on his green long tentacle. Well he's more of a peligamist I guess you could say. He goes to both homes now haha. Won't let Nemo have a home.
9382b64a1d20b29a2f624fb813badb21.jpg

New Acans I got. Thinking it's a rainbow, not sure though.
1da0fbbc3e8eee73fc8ebec00feedf6d.jpg

And then I thought I would try out more sps. My birdsnest didn't make it. Kept falling and it was just a bad time to try sps with all the GHA I was battling. So I got this, it's starting to encrust on the plug so he seems OK. Seems to come out more under blue light. Has nice little green polpys that come out. Seems to go back in when the whites come on. Maybe to bright? I have it at the top in the middle directly under the light. Whites are only a two 25% though. Always thought sps needed strong lighting.

And of course the FTS
