I guess I’d probably prefer the SE bulb, one less thing to worry about breaking.

Edit:: So would the switchable ballast work and would you do a 175w or 250w
I just got the icecap 250w selectable e ballast. Its a nice unit for sure. Im going to run a DE 14k bulb and decided that the e ballast suites me better than a m80...

You'd go 250 over a 45 gallon tank? That's a ton of heat and super bright for such a small tank don't you think?
I’ve 250W over a 40G, lights come on at 2pm, off at 8pm, temp creeps you from 77 to 80 degrees.

Light is 8”-9” from waters surface. 14k DE Housed in a cayman sun

I’m not the tang police, just curious how yours does in 37G?

Ive been considering one.

Tank looks great. I’ve also a school of Chromis in my 40G
