My New Rock Anemone

Here is one of my treasures from the Mid-Michigan Marine Club swap this past weekend....a beautiful rock anemone, red, orange, green & white. This came from the Tropicorium after much discussion with Dick Perrin, a pioneer in reefing history. This is an incredibly colored rock anemone! Dick is known for originating domestic coral propagation in the nation if not the first in the world. He was instrumental in the marine/reef aquarium hobby!

I was very happy for the opportunity to get this one as it was the only one like it at the swap. While it was a bit over my budget, it is now one of the most notable corals in my tank.

Beautiful nem. I've heard that they stay put for the most part, but that they reproduce like crazy under the right conditions. I've been eyeing the ones that Rnegret is always selling on ebay for quite some time!

Very pretty! Do you know where it came from? I've seen some in the Keys, but not quite that nice. The best one we found has bands alternating green and white.

I like it! I was just looking at these on another thread yesterday. I used to keep them but it's been a while back. I haven't seen any nice ones lately - good snag!

Man that is a great looking specimen for sure! I used to have some of them way back in the day but they weren't nearly as nice as the one's on the market today.

Wow, has to be one of the best looking nems I've seen in a while. Great color and shape to that guy.

Will clowns host a rock anemone? I don't know if I ever seen a rock nem as a host to any clowns.

that is some intense color their do these guys move around a lot? I love anemones but am just to worried about placing one in my tank i would just hate for it to start walking around and nuke my tank. Anyhow some more info would be nice. good luck hope it does great in your tank

The are one of the few types of nem that is known to stay put once they fine where they want to be. I would consider them to be one of the easiest nems to keep.

That is a beautiful nem for sure. I have 3. two are colorful and one is kinda plain, but its cool anyway.
If you check out VIP Reef online and click on their gallery link you will see over 500 pics of rock nems in every color morph imaginable.
