Over a month now and still no response from AI. Rep told me awhile back that they have a file on it & "engineering team" will respond when they have a solution. *Filing it probably means in the trash!!

Sounds like you really like the company.

I'm having the same problem with mine. I'm really on the fence about replacing it. I don't want my LFS to take a hit on it. It just barely stays in place. I've actually had mine rotate on the magnet and spin the cord around the back side.

Make sure you email the company. I been sending them issues all along the way

For what it's worth everyone I haven't heard back from tech support for over 2 weeks & u can see how long it's been since I started this thread. Since they're still selling & reviews are positive and not mentioning the magnet problem (especially the YT video's that get them for free & don't want to "bite the hand that feeds them"), AI is probably not going to do anything about it. IMO **I think the best thing to do if ur looking for a wave pump is going with the cheaper option - the 300 series (3rd generation) Maxspecht gyre pumps. They are much quieter and easier to clean than the 1st 2 generations. ( at least Maxspecht listens to their customers complaints).
I will give AI until the end of the month to see what happens and if I'm told "engineering" is still working on it then I'm going to spread the word on all the forums to stay away from these pumps if u have 1/2" glass or thicker. I will also make another video for my yt channel this time with narrative saying that AI intends to do nothing about the problem.

I've read the thread. Wish I had before I bought it. For what its worth, my MP40 wet side broke at 13 months (conveniently right out of warrantee). $80 vs a new pump. I was mad about the MP40 breaking at the one year mark and essentially vowed to not buy their products anymore. Quite honestly, I had the same ridiculous problem with the magnets on the MP10 and MP40. I have 5 AI HD primes -- and I'm not happy about this Nero issue either. I have the older Maxspect gyre on the other side of my tank.

Well as of today have not heard back from support. I guess engineering team is still baffled and since it's been over 2 months I guess they don't care and won't do anything to correct problem. I'm going with the new Maxspecht xf330 gyre. I recently saw and heard one and are virtually silent & easier to clean than previous generations. Plus are about same price as a nero 5.

I went with the reef octopus octo pulse 4 after reading your thread. They lost at least one customer by being no responsive. The gyres are such a pain to keep clean.

My LFS has a Waterbed Reef 130.4 as their display tank with a MP40 mounted on one side and the Nero 5 on the other side. The glass on the 130.4 is 1/2 inch thick and when I was making my decision for my RS Reefer 250 (also 1/2 inch) they told me that they have not had an issue with the magnets on either pump. I just ran my Nero 5 at full speed and the magnet only moved when I gave the wire a really hard pull. The build date for my Nero 5 is Nov. 2, 2018.

I’ve gone back and forth so many times on purchasing one of these pumps because of this thread lol. I want one but I still can’t get myself to pull the trigger.

As you can see from Greg's post the magnets on the MP10 & MP40 also have had issues.

You have a Reefer 350 and if I recall correctly the glass is 1/2 inch thick just like on my Reefer 250. I went crazy trying to decide between the MP40 & the Nero 5, welcome to the club! ;)

The side glass on the 350 measures at 10mm. The back and front are 12mm. I think it should work on either so I may do the Nero 5.

I could only find the 1/2 inch figure listed for theReefer 250 and 350 on the RS site. Out of curiosity where did you find that measurement? o_O

Measured it with a set of calipers.

With the $50 off sale that started today, and an amazon gift card I had, I ended up pulling the trigger on one of these. For $149 I'm willing to take a chance.

This is interesting as the prices in the UK have just been reduced from £299 to £249..... this is with virtually all the major retailers, I must have had 6 fb alerts from shops about the price drop.... makes you wonder why there reducing the price so quickly on a brand new product
