My clownfish's mate passed away this weekend, and we both feel equally saddened by her loss. What should I do now? Should I get him a new mate? And his only friend he has left now is the yellow clown goby.

How big is your tank?
It’s tricky to say because the remaining clown may not accept a new clownfish buddy. The larger the tank, the better your chances if the remaining clown is aggressive towards the newcomer. You could always try, and just be ready to remove it if it doesn’t work out.
If it doesn’t work, and you are not terribly attached, you could trade in the older one and get a second to put with the juvenile.

I'm in the same situation but don't want to take the chance of adding a new one. It's a risk. I may try at some point or just wait until the remaining clown passes - he's already 6 years old but it might be a while still

Were they a male female pair or just two clownfish? I ask because if they were a M/F pair and the male passed I would think it's safe to add a small male though there may still be some fighting . If the female passed I would probably wait a few months then add a small male after the remaining clown transitions to female. I've kept single females with no issues. Heck most of my females treated their mates badly anyway and wouldn't even let the male sleep in her nem.

M/F pair they even laid 5 batches of eggs and only the male is left, and I kinda want him to stay male

The male clownfish that's left in the 15-gallon tank is actually very tame and patient. He doesn't nip me when I have to put my hands in the tank; instead, he just tail-whips me. LOL!

Sorry but isn't really isn't going to be your choice. Even if you add a known female there is no guarantee she will accept the male. I've had females kill males and I've had two males both wanting to become female fight to the death. Maybe you can add a female and they'll fall in love and live happily ever after or maybe not but it will be up to them. ;)
